Wickett & Craig Vegetable Tanned Leather – Coming Soon
Founded in 1867, Wickett & Craig is a world premiere vegetable tannery.
A labor-intensive method that requires skilled workers, veg-tanning is a natural, eco-friendly process that produces deep-colored leathers of superior quality.
They’ve been perfecting the art of leather making for more than 150 years.
Originally from Toronto, Canada, today Wickett & Craig calls Curwensville, Pennsylvania home, making it one of only two remaining vegetable tanneries in the U.S.A.
Our upcoming collection features Wickett & Craig Carving Leather. This particular type of leather is considered one of the finest vegetable tanned options available worldwide. Their Carving Leather is 100% vegetable tanned and unfinished. This unique characteristic allows these hides to readily absorb dye and oil, resulting in exceptional results.
Get ready to immerse yourself in the unparalleled quality of Wickett & Craig veg-tanned leather as we introduce an exciting new chapter in our luxurious handmade leather collection!

Single Bend Cut Vegetable Tanned Leather
When it comes to selecting our leather, quality is paramount. This is why we use “Single Bend” cuts (sections a & b) as it is the most durable section of the cowhide, offering the most strength with the least amount of stretch, marks and blemishes.
Our choice of Single Bend leather is sourced from one of the oldest operating tanneries in Europe. Their process begins with sourcing Premium Scandinavian cowhides which are tanned in vats using only organic materials (such as tree bark).
To ensure the highest grade, I personally inspect and carefully select each hide with the least amount of blemishes and imperfections. These hides are brought back to my studio for cutting and staining, giving us complete control of the process and quality.
Hand Dyed Leather
Once each piece is hand cut, it is hand dyed with an environmentally friendly water based stain and a top finish made from a blend of natural and synthetic waxes sourced from a family run company in Italy.
We will make sure the overall tone of stain is consistent, but no piece will look alike, giving your final product a unique look from every other.
Love Your Leather
To condition and protect your final product, each piece before being packaged, is treated with Smith’s Leather Balm. Smith’s All Natural is a family run business located in Maine USA. They maintain a strong commitment to using no toxic chemicals, no animal products or preservatives.
Only 3 ingredients - 100% organic cocoa butter, 100% organic beeswax and pure sweet almond oil (During the refining process the harmful tree nut allergen is extracted so it will not trigger any tree nut allergies).
100% Merino Wool Felt
Our iPad Sleeves are handcrafted from 100% Merino Wool felt. This luxurious wool fabric is produced in Germany by a long line of felt makers whose techniques have been passed on from generation to generation.
Wool is static resistant which reduces the attraction of dust and lint, making it perfect for our valuable devices. It also keeps the material clean and allergen free.
The wet and needle felting process does not require the use of chemicals nor does it create toxic waste. This wool felt is dyed with eco-friendly vegetable based dyes.
Human-Ecological Standard
Our high quality felt is certified Oeko-Tex Standard 100, a human-ecological standard and is certified as sustainable, biodegradable and free of harmful substances.
Benefits of our Wool Felt
The high density wool content makes it naturally water resistant, causing most liquids to bead off the fabric. In addition, it is also extremely resistant to wear as it will not fray or unravel, allowing it to always look like new.
