 SELF-MADE CRAFTSMAN

 Hi. My name is Nilesh Ladd and I am the designer and craftsman behind this collection of handcrafted leather goods, I hand cut, hand dye and hand sew each and every product.

Craftsmanship is something I learned from my father. My father was a carpenter and a potter, along with my grandfathers. From a young age, I worked at my father’s business helping with residential renovations and carpentry, his mentorship and expertise taught me the importance and value of showcasing superior quality and pride in my work.

I’m proud and very fortunate to be able to pull from my last twenty-nine years of serving with the Canadian Armed Forces, Infantry. From that experience, I bring a strong attention to detail, a sense of commitment, and accountability to my craft. I strongly believe in always striving for excellence while meticulously planning and executing all of my production.

My Passion for Design

In 2001, while still being committed to the military, I pursued a degree at College LaSalle in Montreal studying Women’s Fashion Design. There I discovered my passion for conceptualizing a design into a final functional product. A career in fashion design helped develop my deep respect and appreciation for beautiful high-quality fabrics and leather. It is of the utmost importance that my designs are always kept simple and practical but still have key design elements that are unique and stand out.
